"Eu acho que no seu melhor, a pintura pode ser um ato de manipular percepções, um salão de espelhos. E pode ser um pouco confuso e dispersão. Mas como o artista, como o homem por trás da corda de veludo que controla a fumaça e os espelhos e a maneira como as coisas se movem no espaço pintado, o que eu quero fazer é tentar o meu melhor para ser uma boa testemunha."

I think that at its best, painting can be an act of juggling perceptions, a hall of mirrors. And it can be a bit confusing and scattering. But as the artist, as the man behind the velvet rope who controls the smoke and the mirrors and the way that things move in the painted space, what I want to do is to try my best to be a good witness.
