"Se eu tiver um peso de vinte libra, não consigo detectar um pouso de mosca nele porque a diferença menos detectável no estímulo é meio quilo. Por outro lado, se eu segurar uma pena, um pouso de mosca que faz uma grande diferença. Obviamente, para ser capaz de dizer as diferenças no esforço, é preciso primeiro reduzir o esforço. O desempenho mais fino e mais fino só é possível se a sensibilidade, ou seja, a capacidade de sentir a diferença é melhorada."

On the other hand, if i hold a feather, a fly landing on it makes a great difference. Obviously then, in order to be able to tell the differences in exertion one must first reduce the exertion.
