"Eu costumava flertar com o fundamentalismo, e tive essa ideia de que a criação era algo que aconteceu. Agora vejo a criação como algo que está acontecendo. Centenas de milhões de estrelas ainda estão nascendo todos os dias. A criação é um processo contínuo. O artista ainda não limpou os pincéis. A tinta ainda está molhada. Os seres humanos são os pequenos aglomerados de argila e respiração, e nós fomos entregues pincéis próprios, como jovens aprendizes do artista. Os pincéis não são nossos, nem a tinta ou tela, mas aqui estão em nossas mãos, emprestado. O que devemos fazer?"

I used to flirt with fundamentalism, and I had this idea that creation was something that happened. Now I see creation as something that is happening. Hundreds of millions of stars are still being born every day. Creation is an ongoing process. The Artist has not yet cleaned out the brushes. The paint is still wet. Human beings are the small clumps of clay and breath, and we have been handed brushes of our own, like young artist apprentices. The brushes aren't ours, nor the paint or canvas, but here they are in our hands, on loan. What shall we make?
